John Wayne wore one around his neck chasing bad guys. Mom wore one on her head to protect her from the sun while she worked in the yard. I’ve carried one in my back pocket for years, and occasionally our children tie them around the necks of our dogs Bear and Junebug.
The cotton handkerchief (or bandana) is a classic slice of Americana dating back to the Revolutionary Period. Our version is a 22 x 22 inch square of natural, undyed cotton that is cut and sewn in South Carolina. The design – a simple tribute to our home state – is hand screened in Nashville, Tennessee using water-soluble ink.
